Increasingly, access to high-quality, efficient, and affordable health care hinges on the ability of care providers to integrate health information technology (HIT) into their practices. To that end, Capital District Physicians' Health Plan, Inc. (CDPHP) and the Medical Society of the State of New York (MSSNY) are partnering to host CDPHP–MSSNY eForum 2006: Transforming Tech Valley Health Care , a one-day seminar that will explore the importance and impact of HIT and demystify the technology adoption process for the medical community.

eForum Highlights

  • A keynote address by Newt Gingrich, former Speaker of the House, entitled Saving Lives & Saving Money: Transforming Healthcare in the 21st Century .
  • State and regional perspectives on HIT and its role in improving health care quality, accuracy, and efficiency, presented by well-recognized thought leaders and technology experts.
  • Hands-on, interactive technology exhibits and demonstrations with the option of one-on-one consultation with technology exhibitors.
  • Testimonials from local, office-based practitioners with firsthand experience in implementing HIT/electronic medical record systems for their practices.
  • Break-out sessions, tailored to varying levels of technological expertise, that explore a host of topics, including system evaluation, financing, quality improvement, pay for performance, practice productivity, e -prescribing, and the impact of regional health information organizations (RHIOs).

Ultimately, the goal of eForum 2006 is to inspire the medical community to integrate technology solutions for the advancement and improvement of health care within our community and beyond.
